As we near the end of the first month of the new year, I thought I would share with you my most beloved tunes and songs of January. For me, this month should be filled with soft, crisp, wintery melodies. These songs are so simplistic yet perfectly mirror the frosty weather, burning firewood, and chai tea lattes from the cafe on the corner. Hope you enjoy -->

For nights spent by the fire reading old english poets' work; Billie Holiday playing on an old vintage vinyl. 
The musky scent of pine combined with the warm aroma of an extinguished candle fill your living room while you press your nose against the glass and gaze out at the lulling rain.




Messy bed sheets, the old crackle of a record player, sentimental thoughts, & memories of the last time you saw him lingering in your mind. 

Reading a book is one thing, but reading poetry is something extraordinary. For me, the same goes with writing it. When I sit down to write, pen in my hand, candle burning by my side, it's as if  a world of possibilities lies before me. No boundaries; only feeling, loving, breaking, and healing. Poetry is full of magic, because how can something so beautiful be composed from a simple dictionary of words? I thought I would let you in the door to my heart and read a few of my compositions. Monday morning, I had one of the loveliest times with one of my dearest friends. The dreamy, foggy weather made everything eerie yet mysteriously beautiful. Neither of us had school so we thought it was the perfect day to go into downtown, take pictures, and do some of our favorite things. Overall, it was a splendid morning filled with intangible vintage and rustic vibes. Here are some of the things we did & places we went...



First stop was coffee(what else is new)because a frosty winter outing downtown without warm drinks is not an option. Spent a good hour just chatting away and people watching. No better way to spend a cozy morning, in my mind; so charming and delightful.





If you couldn't tell from my Pinterest, French style is what inspires me most fashion-wise. For me, it's the perfect mixture of charming, romantic, and old-fashioned. Brick walls and cute rainy alleys are perfect to showcase a few of my recent favorite European-inspired pieces.



Found some of cutest little nooks while strolling around. Warm coffee shops, vintage lights, and used bookstores were just a few of them. Nothing but utter bliss in endearing places like these. 


Absolutely loved taking all these photos and exploring around town in the chilly, foggy weather; this only made the warm coffee even more comforting. If you haven't already, find a lovely friend, put on your favorite outfit, and head to the nearest rustic-looking town for a dreamy day. I felt like I was in an old Jane Austen novel the whole time; such an ecstatic feeling. 

I always love to read, but when the weather outside my window is wet and foggy, there is nothing I would rather do than read a novel. Below are my 5 favorites of all time which I will read and re-read for the rest of my life. Brew yourself a warm espresso and enjoy. x

1. "Wuthering Heights" -Emily Brönte 

There are few things in this world that I cherish more than this beautiful novel. The words on every page make me feel every way a heart can feel: broken, loved, lost, healed. Every time, its beauty and tragedy sweeps me into Catherine and Heathcliff's world of woe. My precious copy of this novel is filled with tear-stained pages and blurred ink. For me, nothing on this earth compares to this gem. 

I love my old, vintage copy of this novel. The pages are rustic and beige, adding a certain sweetness to it.

2. "Lolita" -Vladimir Nabokov 

Something about this classic work of art grasped my curiosity after the first few paragraphs. I was instantly drawn in by the strong words and feelings expressed by Humbert Humbert. He is dangerous and capable of murder, yet his beautiful, soft language seduces every reader. If you are a lover of English language at its finest as well as a passionate plot about love, this is the novel for you. 


3. "The Great Gatsby" -F. Scott Fitzgerald

F. Scott Fitzgerald's writing is so lovely and compelling; always inspires me to pick up my pen and start composing. Set in the Roaring 20's and filled with love, passion, and life, 'Gatsby' is one of those novels I always have by my bedside. The characters' distinct personalities allow the reader to connect on a more personal & detailed level which adds to the richness of this alluring story. 






4. "Anne of Green Gables" -L.M. Montgomery  

When I use the phrase 'dear to my heart' I instantly think of the Anne series. Since I was a little girl, Anne was one girl/person I tried to model my life after. When my mother first read the books to me at 6 years old, I instantly connected with Anne's character as I felt she and I were kindred spirits, just like her and Diana. And now, 10 years later, the similarities have only increased. You see, I have a Gilbert in my own life...this in itself makes this enchanting story feel as though it belongs to my heart. 



5. "The Gorgeous Nothings: envelope poems" - Emily Dickinson

Poetry, in my opinion, is the most exquisite and marvelous form of writing. It has the marvelous power to reach the reader's soul in so few words, which I find so fascinating and enigmatic. Emily Dickinson knew how to create the smallest yet most beautiful poems which touch my soul softly yet lovingly. If you ever see me sitting in a corner of a little coffee shop sipping a cappuccino, I will most always have this little booklet of her envelope poems in my hand...

December may be over, but January is just as magical of a month; cold winds, rainy afternoons, busy coffee shops, and the loveliest time to spend mornings in book stores. My wardrobe is my favorite during this time of year because there isn't much I love more than warm, woolen cardigans and oversized sweaters.

Today I thought I would share with you some of my favorite winter clothing pieces that I think every wardrobe should have this time of year. January is one of my favorite months because it feels so calm and serene in a way. The days are so cozy and outside it's as if everything is in a tranquil sleep.
